New Westminster police are seeking witnesses after a shooting on early Tuesday morning.

An intersection has reopened but police are still investigating after a 91-year-old woman was hit by a bus Thursday afternoon in downtown Port Coquitlam.

The pedestrian was crossing the street at the time of the incident, which occurred at Shaughnessy Street and Wilson Avenue at around 12:30 p.m. March 26.

“Early indications suggest the bus was making a turn from Shaughnessy on to Wilson,” the Coquitlam RCMP said in a press release late Wednesday night. “There is no indication that speed or impairment are factors, and the driver is cooperating with the investigation.”

Friday morning, Mounties confirmed the woman is still in hospital in serious condition.

The intersection was shut down for hours after the collision while police conducted their investigation. But it could be a while before it is clear exactly what happened, according to the RCMP.

“Investigation into serious collisions typically take a considerable amount of time as police gather and analyze evidence, review video, speak to witnesses and bring in experts to evaluate the data,” police said in a press release Thursday night.

Anyone who may have witnessed the collision or has information and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call the RCMP’s non-emergency number at 604-945-1550 and ask to speak with the Criminal Collision Investigation Team.
