An Acura owner is in the market for a new car after a fire engulfed the vehicle while parked on a southwest Coquitlam street last week.

According to Mounties, nobody was hurt in the incident, which occurred on Burian Drive shortly before 6 a.m. on Thursday (May 16) and the owner was on scene when emergency crews arrived.

“Coquitlam RCMP attended but it doesn’t look like there was anything suspicious,” said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Michael McLaughlin. “It’s unclear if the vehicle engine had been started at the time of the fire.”

McLaughlin added that a neighbour noticed the smoke coming from the hood of a silver Acura and quickly dialled 911. Firefighters responded to the call within a few minutes and were able to douse the flames.
