Halloween was a quiet night in the Tri-Cities.

Police and fire chiefs told The Tri-City News that while there were some complaints about fireworks and noise, the evening passed without any major incidents.

"It was a day like any other," said Coquitlam Fire Chief Jim Ogloff. "It is often weather and day-of-week dependent… Midweek usually puts a damper on things."

Fire crews in Coquitlam went on nine runs, he added, however some of those were medical calls and false alarms along with some reports of outdoor burning. Ogloff noted that the city issued approximately 10 permits for fireworks.

The only major event was a small kitchen fire that occurred around dinner time, which was not Halloween related, he said.

In Port Moody, Fire Chief Ron Coulson echoed Ogloff, noting the poor weather kept many people off the streets Wednesday night.

"That keeps the vandalism down," he said. "It discourages them."
