Smoke but no fire in Port Coquitlam

The city is being blanketed by smoke from a smouldering fire at a wood recycling plant in Langley

That smell of smoke is coming from a wood recycling fire in Langley. It's not a local blaze says the Port Coquitlam fire department.

A smoldering fire at a wood recycling plant in Langley is sending smoke into Port Coquitlam, says fire chief Nick Delmonico.

“We’re into day five and it’s still burning,” said Delmonico.

The smell is so strong the PoCo fire department is getting calls from apartment residents concerned their building is on fire, Delmonico said, adding “there must be some kind of wind sending the smoke right into Port Coquitlam."

The fire started at Cloverdale Fuel on 2012-B Avenue on Monday night.

Crews have since put the fire out but the smoke has been lingering.
