Snow falls at rush-hour in the Tri-Cities

Expect 10-20 centimetres and the chance of freezing rain overnight

A low pressure system is expected to bring snow and freezing rain

Environment Canada has issued another snowfall warning for the Lower  Mainland, and the Tri-Cities won’t be spared.

The current forecast calls for snow and a risk of freezing rain starting at about 4 p.m. Thursday afternoon as a low pressure system rolls in from the southwest. Tri-City residents should expect between 10 and 20 centimetres of snowfall overnight and into Friday, slightly more than our metro neighbours to the west.

With temperatures milder than during the last snowfall, snow will likely be on the wet and heavy side. There is even a chance of freezing rain as we move into the evening.

Public work crews are planning to work through the night. In Coquitlam, crews have used approximately 1,500 tons of salt since Sunday afternoon. Another 4,000 tons will be shipped in over the next two weeks.
