A 22-year-old woman is dead after her body was found in a Coquitlam townhouse last night.

And the woman suspected of killing her is also dead — her body found floating in Buntzen Lake in Anmore early this morning.

At 3 p.m. today, S/Sgt. Jennifer Pound of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said police were called to the townhome in the 1100-block of Eagleridge Drive shortly before 5 p.m. Friday. Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene.

"The female appeared to have sustained injuries that were consistent with foul play and at that point IHIT was called in," Pound said in a statement.

The suspect was known to the victim and had escaped before police arrived, she said. Officers with IHIT and Coquitlam RCMP as well as Coquitlam Search and Rescue launched a search for the suspect; her vehicle was located at the BC Hydro park and, at 6 a.m. today (Saturday), her body was pulled from the water.

"While evidence gathered suggests this to be a tragic case of murder/suicide, there remains much work to be done," Pound said.

The names of the deceased have not been released.

Meanwhile, police are asking for help as they continue to look for clues. Anyone with information is asked to call the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) tipline at 1-877-551-4448 or email at ihittipline@rcmp-grc.gc.ca.
