Wildfire education for Coquitlam

City to hold three information sessions for what to do in case of wildfires reaching urban green spaces

Despite Coquitlam being a city there is a danger of wildfires spreading to its green spaces such as Mundy Park and Burke Mountain. So the city’s fire department will hold three evening education sessions next week for homeowners who live in the area on steps to take that may prevent damage caused by a wildfire.

The sessions will show residents how to FireSmart homes and property, detail the preventative measures being taken by the city, and Coquitlam Fire and Rescue’s response capabilities when a wildfire occurs.

They will all be from 6 to 9 p.m.:

• Tuesday, July 16, Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex, 633 Poirier St., Sports Hall of Fame area;

• Wednesday, July 17, City Centre Aquatic Complex, 1210 Pinetree Way, in the fitness room;

• Thursday, July 18, Burke Mountain firehall, 3501 David Ave.
