Dear editor:

Correct me if I'm wrong, but wasn't it a year early that Prime Minister Justin Trudeau declared a climate emergency?

How then are we seriously considering the biggest oilsands mine ever proposed? What will it take for us to behave like we are at the tipping point of history and realize that the irreversible damage projects like this will cause far outweigh any of the potential benefits to the current or future economy?

We cannot survive this emergency by digging up 260,000 barrels of oil a day and dumping six million tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere annually.

Eliminating plastic straws and grocery bags will not make up for the damage this will do.

This is an emergency. Start acting like it and reject this project.
