Letter: Racist tirade in Coquitlam not worthy of sympathy

The Editor, Re. “ Racist tirade galvanizes Coquitlam community ” (The Tri-City News, Aug. 22) To Robert and Carli: This is not what Canada is or who Canadians are.
Coach
Robert Birungi gives instruction to children learning to play soccer at Victoria Park in Coquitlam. Recently, he was subjected to a racist tirade and now the Coquitlam community is mounting a campaign to support him.

The Editor,

Re. “Racist tirade galvanizes Coquitlam community” (The Tri-City News, Aug. 22)

To Robert and Carli: This is not what Canada is or who Canadians are. This is disgusting behaviour by an ignorant individual not worthy of any sympathy for his actions at any level.

Putting on these soccer clinics is a contribution to our community to be proud of. I only wish I had the athletic skills to come out and support your program directly.

I truly hope that parents will continue to bring their children to your clinics. I am saddened that the RCMP issued only a warning. Hey RCMP, it's really okay to detain and arrest these bigoted idiots. Really, it is. Then this guy could have a "fixed address" — a jail cell.

Very easy to identify and locate, eh?
