I would like to express my disappointment with the pay of School District 43 trustees.
They get a raise whenever city councillors in Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody get raises, whether deserving or not. Nice deal they voted for themselves.
How can this pay-matching clause be stopped?
We know the board of education won’t voluntarily remove this. I read about an article this winter in The Tri-City News when newly elected Coquitlam Trustee Jennifer Blatherwick tried to remove this clause ("Trustee wage cut nixed," tricitynews.com).
Who do we contact to have this agreement changed? Is a referendum required? I sure would like to know.
