Letter: Would wood buildings in Coquitlam be noisy?

Coquitlam letter writer says they have concerns with how sound would travel in taller wood-frame condo buildings.

The Editor,

Re. "Council says yes to tall wood-frame buildings" (The Tri-City News, Feb. 6).

Coquitlam council has said yes to 12-storey towers made of engineered hardwood. They are reportedly sturdy and fireproof.

That's all fine, but what about noise?

It's bad enough living in a three-storey wood condo where six units share one wall. Sound travels very easily through wood, as opposed to concrete.

Who would want to live in a 12-storey tower where 24 units will share one wood wall? No thanks.
