Goals by Coquitlam’s Matteo Polisi and Quinn Dawson helped power the SFU Can men’s soccer team to their seventh straight win, 4-0 over the Montana State University Billings Yellowjackets, Thursday at Terry Fox Field in Burnaby.

The game was the team’s first chance this Great Northwest Athletic Conference season to play before a home crowd, and they didn’t disappoint by scoring three times in the first half, then adding another in the 81st minute when Dawson blasted a loose ball from the top of the penalty box off the crossbar and down over the goal line. It was his second goal of the season.

The Clan opened the scoring in the ninth minute when Mamadi Camara connected on a cross from Connor Glennon. The goal came just two minutes after Yellowjackets’ forward Ricardo Palomino had been ejected from the game with a red card.

A minute after Camara’s opener, Polisi stepped up to the penalty spot after his teammate, Rahid Rahiem had been pulled down in the box and the referee indicated penalty kick. Polisi, a grad of Dr. Charles Best secondary, didn’t miss, firing his seventh goal in seven games this season.

Dzenan Bezdrob scored the Clan’s other goal, in the 19th minute.

SFU heads back out on the road to Lacey, WA., for a game against St. Martin’s University on Saturday. They return home to play Concordia University on Sept. 27, 7 p.m. at Terry Fox Field.
