Coquitlam’s Kendal Sands had eight points and Riverside secondary grad Nwabuko Ozioma contributed seven points and six rebounds to a 67-60 victory by the Simon Fraser University Clan women’s basketball team over Concordia University, Saturday at SFU’s West Gym.

It was the third conference win for the Clan, who trailed 34-29 at halftime, but then outscored the visitors 38-26 in the second half.

Sophie Swant led all Clan shooters with 14 points.

SFU’s next game will be next Thursday, when they play the Saint Martin’s University Saints in Lacey, Wa.

Men drop fourth straight

The SFU men’s team lost its fourth straight game, 88-72, to the Northwest Nazarene Nighthawks, in Nampa, Id., on Saturday.

Coquitlam’s Graham Miller had four points for the Clan, who were led by Othniel Spence’s 15 points.

The loss drops SFU record in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference to one win and five losses.

They’ll have a chance to improve that on Tuesday, when they play Western Washington University in Bellingham.
