Former Coquitlam Express coach Jon Calvano, who was fired after his club missed the post-season this spring, has found a new role with the Langley Rivermen.

Calvano has signed on to be the B.C. Hockey League team's associate coach and assistant general manager, after the club went 24-26 in the regular season.

"It's the start of a new chapter in my life and I am really excited to join the Rivermen organization," he said. "The team is coming off a good year making the playoffs for the first time and I hope to come in and help the franchise in any way I can."

The Rivermen were dumped in the first round of the playoffs after losing to the Surrey Eagle in four games of the best-of-five series. The Eagles went on to win the league championship after defeating the Penticton Vees in the finals.

Meanwhile, the Coquitlam Express have made a few lineup additions of their own.

Last week, the club announced that Nicolas Beaudin, Stanstead College's alternate captain, has committed to play for the Express next season.

The 18-year-old player, who spent two years at the college where he finished the 2012-13 seasons with 31 goals and 33 assists in 61 games, said he was thrilled to join the Coquitlam club.

Beaudin was the recipient of the Dawes Trophy at Stanstead's MVP and is presently ranked 167th on the NHL Scouting Bureau's Final Prospect list for the upcoming June draft.

"We are very excited to add a player like Nicolas Beaudin to our lineup," said Express head coach Barry Wolff. "Nicolas is a great player that has strong character and work ethic We know that he will be ready to compete at the BCHL level."

Stanstead head coach James Rioux said Beaudin has a high hockey IQ and is an excellent two-way player. He has also been a consistent scorer for the college club and will add some much-needed offense to the Express lineup.
