The Port Coquitlam Saints scored the first goal in their BC Junior A Lacrosse League game Saturday at the PoCo Rec Centre, but the Nanaimo Timbermen scored the next six and rolled to an 11-5 win.

It was the Saints’ second loss on their home floor in less than 24 hours after 13-5 setback to the league-leading Coquitlam Adanacs Friday night.

Against Nanaimo, the Saints trailed 3-1 at the end of the first period and 8-4 after the second.

Garrett Winter and Aiden Murphy each scored two goals for Port Coquitlam. Stuart Phillips had the other goal.

The loss leaves the Saints in a tie for last place in the league standings with the Delta Islanders. Each team has six points, although Port Coquitlam has played one more game.

Port Coquitlam will wrap up its dismal season with a pair of games this weekend against the Victoria Shamrocks. They’ll visit the provincial capital on Saturday then host the Shamrocks at the PoCo Rec Centre on Sunday at 4 p.m.

Delta has games remaining against the New Westminster Salmonbellies, Langley Thunder and Nanaimo Timbermen.
