The Port Coquitlam Saints scored the first goal, 53 seconds into their BC Junior A Lacrosse League game against the Langley Thunder, Thursday in Langley.

But that’s about where the good news ended.

The Thunder scored the next four goals, and just kept on scoring en route to a 17-5 pasting of the Saints, who are tied for last place in the league standings with the Delta Islanders.

Langley led 5-3 after the first period, and 12-5 heading into the third, when they scored five unanswered goals.

Jacob Dunbar and Carson Rees each scored a pair of goals for the Saints, who were outshot by the Thunder, 68-39.

Port Coquitlam doesn’t have much time to lick its wounds, though. They host the New Westminster Salmonbellies tonight, 8 p.m., at the PoCo Rec Centre.
