Ravens finish third at top boys' tournament

The Terry Fox Ravens defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders 93-65 Saturday to finish in third place at the Tsumura Basketball Invitational at the Langley Events Centre.

The Terry Fox Ravens defeated the Holy Cross Crusaders 93-65 Saturday to finish in third place at the Tsumura Basketball Invitational at the Langley Events Centre.

The Ravens, who went into the tournament ranked second in the province reached the consolation final after an 85-82 overtime loss to defending AAAA champions, Burnaby South Rebels earlier in the day. Terry Fox had been down by as much as 20 points in the third quarter, but rallied to take a 70-67 lead before Rebels forced the extra 5-minute period when Justin Sunga sank a 3-pointer with 2:44 remaining. Neither team was able to score again during regulation.

The Rebels went on to drop the championship final to fourth-ranked Lord Tweedsmuir, 82-77.

The Heritage Woods Kodiaks finished 10th in the 16-team tournament, while the Centennial Centaurs were 16th.
