The Terry Fox Ravens rebounded from their tough loss in Friday’s semifinal at the Jonathan Taylor Legal Beagle Invitational basketball tournament to finish in third place after defeating the Kelowna Owls, 70-51 on Saturday.
The Ravens, ranked second in the province heading into the 10-team tournament, led 19-10 after the first quarter, and 44-23 at halftime.
David Chien, of Terry Fox, was named the player of the game.
In Saturday’s final, the Holy Cross Crusaders defeated the Oak Bay Bays, 75-58. Michael Risi was the player of the game for the Crusaders, and he was also named the tournament’s top defensive player. Uyi Ologhola was the tournament’s most valuable player.
Risi, along with Diego Maffia and Jamie Molins from Oak Bay, Toni Maric of Vancouver College and the Ravens’ Jacob Mand were named to the tournament’s first all-star team. Terry Fox also placed two players on the second all-star team, David Chien and Grady Stanyer.
