Sato’s foursome lost its first game in six matches Thursday night, 3-2, to Alex Duncan-Wu’s Royal City/Port Moody  rink. But the only other rink that had been undefeated, led by skip Erik Colwell, also lost for the first time, 8-4 to Johnson Tao’s Richmond/Abbotsford rink.

Sato’s Royal City rink, which includes third Joshua Miki from Port Coquitlam, as well as Burnaby’s Dawson Ballard and Troy Chong from Langley, meets Colwell this afternoon at 1 p.m. The winner gets sole possession of first place and a bye into Sunday’s final. The loser will play in a semifinal on Saturday.
