TC swimmers make splash for SFU

Swimmers from the Tri-Cities continue to make a splash for the Simon Fraser University Clan swim team.

Coquitlam’s Andrew Woinoski and his brother, Tim, took the top two placings in the men’s 1000-yard freestyle event at a dual meet with the Seattle University Redhawks last Saturday. Andrew swam the distance in 9:38.22 while Tim touched the wall in 9:40.68. Tim also finished second in the 500-yard freestyle, behind teammate Mackenzie Hamill.

Port Coquitlam’s Sara Whelan won the women’s 100-yard freestyle race.

The results helped the men’s team pull out a narrow 137-124 decision over the host school, while the women’s team beat Seattle U. 178-76.

SFU swimmers will compete in the Western Collegiate Invitational this weekend in Victoria.
