Breaking: Crash involving a police vehicle blocks major Vancouver intersection

Granville Street between 11th and 14th is blocked off.

Updated at 2:05 p.m.

A crash involving a civilian vehicle and an unmarked police vehicle took place at 12th Avenue and Granville Street around 1 p.m. Monday (Oct. 10).

The Vancouver Police Department (VPD) tells Vancouver Is Awesome in an emailed statement that officers were responding to a crime-in-progress crime when this collision occurred.

Photos of the crash captured by V.I.A show that the airbag was deployed in the civilian car but VPD reports that there were no major injuries and that the Collision Investigation Unit is investigating to determine all of the circumstances.

Vancouver police blocked off the area on Granville Street on either side of the crash site between 11th and 14th avenues.

V.I.A will update this story as information becomes available.
