Amid slushy, snowy and rainy weather, Squamish RCMP are reporting that about nine cars were involved in collisions on Highway 99 near Britannia Beach.

Cpl. Angela Kermer said the crashes were reported separately, but are investigating whether they were connected to each other.

“Thus far, it appears weather and road conditions are a factor,” said Kermer in a news release. “We remind drivers to slow down, leave wider gaps between the cars in front of you, and to respect the weather, especially with more rain and snow in our forecast.”

The collisions occurred on Jan. 3 around 8 a.m.

Police say BC Highway Patrol Squamish, Fire Rescue, Miller Capilano, BC Transit have assisted for a coordinated response.

It is not yet known if there were any injuries.

The scene has since been cleared.

Squamish RCMP asks anyone with any information regarding this situation to contact the Squamish RCMP at 604-892-6100, or, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS, or go to www.solvecrime.ca.
