Whistler RCMP are seeking information about the three individuals captured in this image.

The Sea to Sky Whistler RCMP is investigating two separate reports of individuals attempting to light fires in public areas of the Resort Municipality of Whistler, and is asking for the public’s assistance.

The first incident occurred on June 19, just after 8 p.m., near the gravel pit on Lorimer Road, where three males were reportedly seen gathered around a fire.

The second incident took place on June 20, just after 7:30 p.m., in the 4100 block of Golfer's Approach, where three males were observed attempting to start a fire.

Investigators are looking to speak with anyone who may have been in either area around the time of the reports and who may have witnessed any suspicious activity. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044.

Additionally, police are looking to identify three individuals of interest seen on Golfer’s Approach during the June 20 incident. A photograph of the individuals has been released, and descriptions are as follows:

“It goes without saying that lighting fires at this time of year—especially in public areas and without proper permits or safety precautions—is extremely dangerous,” said Cpl. Katrina Boehmer, media relations officer for the Sea to Sky RCMP. “We’re releasing this photograph in the hopes that someone in the Whistler community can help identify these individuals, or that they will come forward to speak with investigators directly.”

Anyone with information about this or any other crime is encouraged to contact the Whistler RCMP at 604-932-3044, or to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit solvecrime.ca.
