Port Moody military historian Guy Black is organizing a special event honouring Korean War vets.

Korean War veterans are invited to a special event Jan. 15 when Korean students will honour them with a party.

Port Moody military historian Guy Black has arranged for the students of Pukyong National University from Busan, Republic of Korea to visit the Lower Mainland as part of their trip to Canada.

“The young students have been planning their annual commemoration trip for many months and will be here for just a few days. They would like to meet the people who brought peace to their country in 1953.

The event will take place  Wednesday, Jan. 15 from 10 a.m. to noon at the Seaforth Highlanders of Canada Armoury, Vancouver.

It is free and includes traditional Korean performances, singing, dancing and refreshments. As well, special medals from the government of Korea will be handed out to veterans or their family members.
