If you are a first responder, childcare worker or a teacher in the Fraser Health Authority, and haven't yet received a COVID-19 vaccination, you can now.

On Tuesday morning, the health authority put out an invite to all licensed childcare workers, school-based staff, police, RCMP and fire departments in the region who have not yet received their COVID-19 vaccine, to book their immunization appointments starting Wednesday.

“We will complete immunizations of these priority groups over the next 10 days,” said Fraser Health in a news release. “We are reaching out to these groups directly today to share details and next steps. Now that we have substantially completed immunizations of school-based staff, police, and firefighters in all of our high-transmission neighbourhoods, today’s action to expedite immunizations of these groups in the remaining communities will ensure they receive immunization as quickly as possible, and is a follow-up to the communication we shared with them last week regarding their immunization schedule.”

Fraser Health says while it remains critical that we continue following public health orders and guidance, registering for the COVID-19 vaccine helps put the COVID-19 pandemic behind us, and brings us one step closer to reconnecting with the people we care about the most and returning to the activities we enjoy, while protecting our health system and helping businesses in our community return to normal operations.

Fraser Health says all vaccines that are approved in Canada and available in British Columbia are safe and effective, and will help protect you against COVID-19. Vaccines have been shown to have a high level of protection against serious illness and death, and every vaccine that is administered makes us, our loved ones, and our communities all safer.
