Rococo, a 36 by 48 inch acrylic on canvas, was among the six paintings that Sydney artist Sandy Terry had on show at Port Moody’s Silk Art Gallery when, on July 28, two nearby buildings caught on fire.

It — along with Aria, Bliss, Rosebud, Amore and Sunlit Splendour — were free of smoke and water damage thanks to the quick actions of curator Zoe Royer and her husband, Gaetan.

The American-born Terry returned to visual arts nine years ago after 30 years of teaching and raising her children.

A senior signature status member with the Federation of Canadian Artists as well as the Society of Canadian Artists, Terry has won numerous awards in juried exhibits; images of her paintings have also been featured in international art magazines.
