Several scribes from the Tri-Cities are in this week's Word Vancouver Festival.

Shazia Hafiz Ramji — the recipient of the 2017 Robert Kroetsch Award for Innovative Poetry and was a finalist for the 2016 National Magazine Award for Poetry — is conducting a workshop called The Art of the Response.

Ramji will also read from her chapbook, Prosopopoeia.

Onjana Yawnghwe is part of Poetry in Transit, presented by Read Local BC, that includes fellow poets Adèle Barclay, Wendy Donawa, Rhonda Ganz, Ulrike Narwani and Jeff Steudel.

David Starr will read from his book, The Nor’Wester, that follows a character called Duncan Scott as he escapes from his native Scotland for Quebec and is hired by the North West Company.

Meanwhile, Yilin Wang is on a panel for Embracing Change: The Evolution of Room Magazine, as moderated by Amber Dawn, and Emma Field is performing at the Vancouver Poetry House; Field is a spoken-word artist who is currently Vancouver’s Youth Grand Slam Champion and was a member of the 2016 championship team of Hullabaloo.
