A former Coquitlam resident is one of five finalists nominated for a CBC non-fiction prize.

Sarah Bennett, who now calls St. John's, N.L., home, is up for an accolade for her work Caught, which tells the story about a relationship with an old friend.

The mother-of-four is studying fiction with Lisa Moore at Memorial University and is active with the writers' group The Naked Parade. Recently, she was chosen to apprentice with the Writer's Alliance of Newfoundland and Labrador's mentorship program.

Bennett appeared on the CBC long-list last year and in 2015. She is also shortlisted for the Glass Buffalo Short Fiction Contest.

The winner, who will receive $6,000 form the Canada Council for the Arts, will be revealed tomorrow (Tuesday).
