Radio gig for Port Moody's girl-about-town

A Port Moody resident who ran for a city council seat in last fall's civic election is on the entertainment beat for a Tri-City radio station. Last Friday, Cathy Cena hosted her first radio show on CKPM-FM 98.7 called Catching up with Cathy.

Last Friday, Cathy Cena hosted her first radio show on CKPM-FM 98.7 called Catching up with Cathy.

Her 15-minute segment that showcases events around town will be broadcast on Fridays at 7:20 a.m. and 4:20 p.m.

Cena told The Tri-City News the radio station contacted her via Twitter to see if she'd be willing to take on a gig similar in style to Joy Metcalfe's "Joy's Journal" program on CKNW.

"We going to be doing a lot of name dropping and making it fun," Cena said. "It's about getting out there in the community and seeing what's going on."

It is Cena's first job as a radio broadcaster. She previously sold advertisements with 93.7 JR-FM.
