Five Tri-City musicians are in the Vancouver Opera season opener of The Merry Widow.
Mezzo-soprano Barb Towell of Coquitlam is in the chorus for the production, which opens Oct. 20.
And Tom Shorthouse (principal trumpet) and Susan Round (cello) of Port Moody will join Coquitlam’s Reg Quiring (viola) and Yun Jun (violin) in the orchestra.
The opera is sung in German; however, the dialogue is in English.
