Visual artists in the Tri-Cities with a First Nations background can apply for scholarships through the YVR Art Foundation.
Emerging artist scholarships, worth $5,000, are available for B.C. and Yukon residents ages 17 to 29 to study with a mentor or at a recognized art school; their work will be exhibited for a year at the Vancouver International Airport.
As well, the foundation as a scholarship program for mid-career Indigenous artists — older than 30 — to work with a master artist or on a special project, or attend a recognized school of art.
The deadline to apply for either program is Jan. 30.
