Coquitlam Mounties released an image of a man sought in connection with the two separate incidents.

Coquitlam RCMP tonight (May 9) released an image of a suspect sought in connection with two separate groping incidents on Burke Mountain.

Police say the first incident happened Monday (May 8) at around 1 p.m. at a bus stop at Coast Meridian Road and David Avenue.

The second event happened several hours later, at 9:10 p.m., near the intersection of Burke Village Promenade and Soball Street.

Both female victims said they did not know the suspect, who is described as:

  • Asian male
  • Between 20 and 30 years old
  • Short black hair
  • Thick dark eyebrows

"The nature of these incidents is concerning for both the police and the public," said Cpl. Alexa Hodgins in a news release.

"We are appealing to the public for assistance in identifying the suspect, but to also encourage others to report any similar incidents to police.”

She noted the Coquitlam Investigational Support Team (IST) and victim services staff are now involved.

"The victims did the right thing by being aware of their surroundings and reporting the incidents to the police," Hodgins continued.

"We want to remind the public to report any suspicious activities to their local police."

Anyone who recognizes the suspect is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2023-11781.
