A commercial truck driver was caught driving while allegedly impaired and tried to ask the police officer to "just forget about this."
On July 12 at around 2 p.m., an alert citizen spotted the driver operating a white truck on Lefeuvre Road and called the police.
Abbotsford Police Department officers responded quickly and located the truck.
"The driver, a Class 1 commercial operator, was found to be impaired by alcohol. As a result, they were issued a 90-day driving prohibition,” said an AbbyPD spokesperson.
A Class 1 driver’s licence means the driver can operate semi-trailer trucks and other class 1-5 vehicles requiring a commercial licence. It is the highest level of commercial licence in many jurisdictions.
Police say the driver asked the officer, “Please let me go and just forget about this.”
"Let’s be clear—driving is a privilege, not a right,” said Abbotsford police.
"At AbbyPD, we take road safety seriously."
Abbotsford police said impaired driving puts everyone at risk and they are committed to keeping the roads safe for all.
