2020 has been a rough year for many who work in the culture industry, but Metro Vancouver may be able to help with that.

The local regional district is now accepting applications from cultural groups looking for grants up to $10,000.

"The regional project grants support creation, production, dissemination, audience development, research, project staff and/or administrative capacity building," states the district on their website.

They have a total of $150,000 to give out and grants won't exceed $10,000 (most are between $2,500 and $5,000). Last recipients included the Vancouver Cantonese Choir, African Friendship Society and Canada Wild Arts Society.

Applications need to be in by May 10 at 4 p.m. Recipients will find out sometime in late summer if they're being awarded a grant.

“We are pleased to support arts organizations in finding new ways to reach and enrich the lives of residents, while also staying within ongoing public health orders," says Sav Dhaliwal, Chair of the Metro Vancouver Board of Directors, in a press release.
