A new festival for bubble tea fans is launching in Metro Vancouver this August, with special drinks and discounts available to "passport" holders.

One of Metro Vancouver's most popular sweet drinks will be in the spotlight this August thanks to a new initiative that gives bubble tea fans special access to limited edition creations and deals.

The Metro Vancouver Bubble Tea Passport is a self-guided two-week festival that will find local vendors coming up with special drinks and promotions from August 1 to 14. Additionally, there is an actual "passport" available for purchase that gets bubble tea lovers some next-level deals, including a place to record tasting notes;  $1 off limited edition menu offerings (Aug. 1-14); bonus BOGO drink deals at select vendors (Aug. 1-Oct. 1); a two-month Supper Club membership to make new friends to drink bubble tea with.

The Bubble Tea Passport is the creation of local food fan Laura Wong-Thompson, who also set up last year's debut Croissant Crawl.

"Vancouver has such a vibrant food scene, and I wanted to contribute another experience for foodies to enjoy together while exploring local businesses. I chose bubble tea because all the flavours, add-ons, and toppings can inspire creative combinations," Wong-Thompson tells V.I.A. in an email.

A full list of participating vendors, drinks, and deals is now available, as well as details regarding where you can purchase your Passport.

Bubble tea fans can follow along on Instagram or Facebook for any more updates.
