17th Santa Train set for Dec. 7 and 14

West Coast Express' annual Santa Train will be back on track the next two Saturdays.

West Coast Express' annual Santa Train will be back on track the next two Saturdays.

The Santa Train, now in its 17th year, is an annual toy drive that makes the scenic 65 km journey from Mission to Vancouver - and all WCE stations in between, collecting toys on behalf of various Christmas bureaus, including Share Family and Community Services in the Tri-Cities.

To ride the Santa Trains on Dec. 7 or 14, bring a new, unused and unwrapped toy to any WCE station; in exchange, you will receive a return ticket for the West Coast Express to be used the same day.

As well, donations of non-perishable food items will be accepted - although food donations will not be exchanged for tickets - and can be dropped off at the food-collection bins located at Waterfront Station in downtown Vancouver, terminus for the morning trains.

The Santa Trains are sponsored by Black Press, The Tri-City News' parent company, and Rogers Radio Group.

The morning trains, which arrive at Waterfront Station at 11:15 a.m., will stop at the following times on the two Saturdays: Port Coquitlam, 10:39 a.m.; Coquitlam, 10:45 a.m.; and Port Moody, 10:50 a.m.

They'll leave Waterfront in the afternoon at 4 p.m., arriving in PoMo at 4:24 p.m., Coquitlam at 4:29 p.m. and POCo at 4:34 p.m.
