A Port Moody mom is organizing an evening of inspiration - one she hopes that young women will attend and learn from.

"I'm finding there's a lot of women in our community who need something to look up to," explained Tara McIntosh who is reviving the women's Heart and Soul Conference after a five-year hiatus. This year's event will run on Oct. 18, from 4 to 10 p.m.

McIntosh, whose two sons have grown up in the meantime and need less of her time, said she is responding to demand in the Tri-Cities for an evening of fun and learning.

"The whole point is to bring women together," explained McIntosh, who has invited Tamara Taggart, anchor with CTV News, Pia Shandel, media specialist and Georgia Nichols to speak on topics important to them and other women.

There will also be a variety of exhibitors, wine and cheese and an awards presentation to three dynamic women who all deserve recognition, McIntosh said.

She said the event will not only showcase women who are leaders in the community but will present an opportunity for honest dialogue. "It's getting real and talking about things that women go through," she said.

Tickets for the Heart and Soul Conference are $35 and available online at www.tricitywomensconference.com or at local businesses: Oxygen Yoga in Port Coquitlam, Gallery Bistro in Port Moody, Veracis Meditation and Wellness in Port Moody, Innovative Mortgage Solutions in Coquitlam, Caydance Studio in Port Coquitlam.

The Heart and Soul conference is partnering with the Enchantment Project (www.enchantmentproject.com) to create a great grad experience for local boys and girls. Conference participants are asked to bring a donation of a gown or cocktail dress that could be worn to a grad dinner or dance.
