The two-year-old Port Coquitlam Community Foundation is accepting pre-screening applications for its first annual grant cycle.

Applications are encouraged, but not restricted to: projects in the areas of the arts, culture and heritage; assistance to the homeless; the environment and community safety; sports, fitness and recreation.

The deadline for applications is midnight, Jan. 15, 2014 and pre-screening application, procedure and process details are available at pocofoundation.com.

The PoCo Community Foundation was founded to assist in the creation of lasting legacies for the community supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations as well as the city. The foundation raises, manages and distributes funds for initiatives and programs that benefit PoCo residents. Its most recent success story is the creation of the PoCo Minor Lacrosse Bursary Fund, which provides bursaries to exceptional lacrosse players to assist them in furthering their education.
