Bats, man, on Aug. 15

If your knowledge of bats is limited to what you've gleaned from Batman movies, you might want to check out a program next Friday at Minnekhada Regional Park in Coquitlam.

If your knowledge of bats is limited to what you've gleaned from Batman movies, you might want to check out a program next Friday at Minnekhada Regional Park in Coquitlam.

At Bat Watch, hosted by the city and Metro Vancouver Parks, you can witness the sight of bats leaving their roosts to start their day of eating insects. You'll see them flying out of their nursery colonies, discover their habits and learn about their importance in our ecosystem.

A Metro Vancouver park interpreter will host this guided evening walk in search for these mysterious mammals from 7:30 to 9:30 at Minnekhada.

This program is suitable for adults and children six years or older accompanied by an adult. Cost is $8 per person for adults, $4.25 for children, youths and seniors.

Advance registration is required. To register, go to www.metrovancouveronline.org or call 604-432-6359 and use barcode 5742.
