Three environmental groups are screening the film Before the Flood, a new film by actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio.
Before the Flood presents an account of the dramatic changes now occurring around the world due to climate change, as well as the actions that are needed to prevent catastrophic disruption of life on the planet.
The film follows DiCaprio as he travels to five continents and the Arctic speaking to scientists, world leaders, activists and local residents to gain a deeper understanding of this complex issue and investigate concrete solutions to the most pressing environmental challenge of our time.
The film will be followed by a public discussion with local representatives and activists to discussion real solutions.
The film will be screened Thursday, Nov. 10 at 7 p.m. at Douglas College David Lamp campus in lecture theatre A1470.
It is being presented by organizers and volunteers from the PipeUp Network and Force of Nature Alliance.
Special guests include Fin Donnelly, MP for Coquitlam-Port Moody and founder of the Rivershed Society of BC., Laura Dupont, Port Coquitlam city councilor and sponsor of the David Suzuki Right to a Healthy Environment and Dr. Amy Lubik, of the Canadian Association of Physicians for the Environment and Force of Nature.
