Book club for middle school kids at Port Moody library

Middle school kids in the Tri-Cities now have their own book club at Port Moody Public Library, a great chance to meet other people who love reading as much as they do.

Middle school kids in the Tri-Cities now have their own book club at Port Moody Public Library, a great chance to meet other people who love reading as much as they do.

Children in Grades 6 to 8 can have fun as they learn to explore the characters in the books they read and take a more in-depth look at the time period and setting of each story. Club members will read two books during each six-week session and do fun activities related to the stories, take part in scavenger hunts and maybe even learn some library secrets.

Book club members will also become more confident speaking and expressing their thoughts in a group setting.

And since clubbers will be going to the library straight from school, book club always begins with a snack.

The Tween Book Club will meet on alternate Tuesdays from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. in the ParkLane Room from Sept. 17 to Nov. 25.

Space is limited. You can register in person at the library information desk. For more information, call 604-469-4577.

Port Moody Public Library is open weekdays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1 to 5 p.m.
