Breastfeeding, finance among baby talk topics in Coquitlam

That's why Place Maillardville community centre in Coquitlam is hosting Baby's First 2 Years, a free drop-in program for expectant parents as well as parents, grandparents and/or guardians and their babies newborn to 24 months.

This program offers an opportunity to learn from guest speakers and enjoy support, conversation and validation in a comfortable and relaxed environment.

Baby's First 2 Years takes place on Fridays from 1 to 2:30 p.m. in the Heritage Room at Place Maillardville, which is located at 1200 Cartier Ave.

Following is the roster of speakers for this fall:

Sept. 26: Amanda Lefebvre, Earthy Mamas Cleaning Services, on toxins and chemicals in the home;

Oct. 31: Paul Hendriks, Knowledge First Financial, on Registered Education Plans;

Oct. 3: Rita Shergill, Postpartum Society, on adjusting to motherhood;

Nov. 7: Bryan Stark, Edward Jones, on understanding what insurance you really need;

Oct. 10: Rae Ingram, Child Care Resource and Referral, on child care; and

Nov. 14: Roxanna Farnsworth, La Leche League, on breastfeeding and nutrition.

Note: There are no sessions on Oct. 17 and 24, and speakers are still to be announced for Nov. 21 and 28, and Dec. 5, 12 and 19.
