A fresh Christmas tree only lasts a few weeks but purchasing a tree from non-profit Aunt Leah's Place lot in Coquitlam will leave a legacy that can last a lifetime.
Each year, the organization that supports young people aging out of foster care sells trees to raise money for its programs and provide skills training for youth.
This year, as many as 4,000 trees will be sold by more than 400 volunteers at four lots in the Lower Mainland, including one at Eagle Ridge United Church, 2813 Glen Dr., Coquitlam.
The local lot will operate Monday through Thursday from noon to 7 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and 100% of proceeds will go to providing housing and programs for foster teens and young moms and their babies.
