A longtime salmon stewardship project for Centennial secondary students has won a $10,000 grant from the Habitat and Conservation Trust Fund.

Teacher Melanie Mattson, who runs the program, said funds will be used to enhance field experiences for both the Salmon Project and Wildlife of BC 11/Fish and Wildlife 12 courses.

The programs were developed in 1976 to provide Centennial secondary students with hands-on experience to restore and preserve fish habitat and run a fish hatchery at Mossom Creek in Port Moody.
