Aunt Leah's four Christmas tree lots - including one in Coquitlam - open today (Friday) with the aim of helping B.C. youth.
One hundred per cent of profits from the lots go towards funding programs that help prevent youth in foster care from becoming homeless and young mothers from losing custody of their children.
To celebrate the lots' Grand Opening, Aunt Leah's is offering free photos with Santa at the Coquitlam location - Eagle Ridge United Church, 2813 Glen Dr. - from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday. The local lot is open Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.
Aunt Leah's provides supported housing, job training, and coaching on essential life skills to foster youth before and after they "age out" of government care at age 19.
