The provincial not-for-profit organization, located in Coquitlam, recently celebrated its 17th anniversary in the prevention of sexual exploitation of children and youth.

On Monday, Nov. 29 at Place Des Arts. 1120 Brunette Ave., Coquitlam from 6 to 8 p.m., the AGM is open to community members who are interested in learning about Children of the Street Society and will provide an opportunity to highlight current programming, including a sample of the society's school based prevention and education program, Taking Care of Ourselves, Taking Care of Others (TCO2).

In addition, the event will feature the release of the society's Transform a Life 2013-2014 calendar, which features artwork created by youth and is aimed at raising public awareness about the issue of sexual exploitation. The calendar, designed by Porcaro Communications, will be available for sale for $20 while proceeds from calendar sales will help in the Society's prevention, education and early intervention programming.

The event is free and will include light refreshments. If you plan to attend, RSVP no later than Nov. 26 to Chrysabelle Choe at 604-777-7510, Ext. 105 or [email protected].

Children of the Street Society's mission is to take a proactive approach through public awareness, education and early intervention strategies to prevent the sexual exploitation of children and youth while offering support to families. For more information, visit childrenofthestreet.com.
