The Coquitlam Foundation is now accepting applications from qualified individuals and organizations for grants, bursaries and scholarships.
The foundation, which is celebrating its 20th anniversary in 2012, distributed more than $55,000 in the community last year.
Detailed information and application forms are available on online at www.coquitlamfoundation.com. Deadline for applications is 4 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 23.
In addition to numerous bursaries and scholarships being made available to individuals, the Coquitlam Foundation has also announced that eligible community groups can apply for project grants totalling up to $3,500 for initiatives involving the arts, up to $1,000 for education, up to $2,000 for health and wellness, and up to $2,000 for heritage and conservation.
"For 20 years now, our goal has been to use targeted philanthropy to build a vibrant, sustainable and healthy community," Coquitlam Foundation chair Colleen Talbot said in a press release. "As such, we are especially pleased to be able to assist the many worthy organizations and individuals who need funds to enrich our community or continue their education."
Executive director Dale Clarke noted the Coquitlam Foundation manages more than 20 donor-advised and foundation-directed funds, focusing on everything from the arts and heritage to literacy and gymnastics. The foundation enjoys a thriving financial base, managing assets totalling more than $1.8 million. The awards will be distributed at the Coquitlam Foundation's Awards Night, to be held May 29 at the Evergreen Cultural Centre.
