Kids aged 11 to 14 years old can learn how to cook in the Teen Chef program running Mondays from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. Chef Saran will offer tips on preparing delicious heathy food in four sessions, with separate groups for boys and girls. The girls' program runs from March 26 to April 23, the boys' session has just started and continues to March 5.
It costs $35 for four sessions, which provides for food, and takes place in the kitchen at Place Maillardville, 1200 Cartier Ave. Coquitlam. The program is funded by Concord Security and Coquitlam Maillardville Heritage Trust.
Another program will teach kids aged 11 to 14 years the game of pickle-ball, a racquet sport played on a badminton court with an over-sized ping pong paddle and a wiffle ball.
The free program runs Feb. 24 to April 20 in the gym at Maillard middle school, 1300 Rochester Ave., and is funded by the City of Coquitlam Youth Active Grant.
