Coquitlam's Brittany Lee is looking for five Tri-City residents to become walk leaders for an event from May 1 to 3 called Jane's Walk.
The walks are locally organized tours where residents get a chance to discuss developments in their city, its history and any challenges being faced.
They're named for Jane Jacobs, an urbanist and activist who introduced the community based approach to building cities. According to a press release, she believed "Cities have the capability of providing something for everybody, only because, and only when, they are created by everybody."
Lee is Coquitlam's organizer for the event and first heard about Jane's Walk through social media. Her role in the Tri-Cities is to reach out to members of the community to hold a walk and plan the route.
"It's interesting to see how such a small city has changed in such a short time," Lee said. "You get to hear what people really think about the city."
