A Coquitlam school is taking a high-energy approach to fundraising next week.

Walton elementary, located in the Canyon Springs subdivision, is hosting as a fundraiser an hour-long Zumba class Jan. 26.

Zumba is a popular, Latin dance-inspired exercise and next Wednesday's event will be led by Andrea Raybould, a Walton parent and BC Recreation and Parks Association-certified fitness instructor who regularly leads Zumba classes at Port Moody rec complex and Steve Nash Fitness World. Participants don't need to have any dance experience, just a towel and some water.

The Zumba fundraiser runs from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 26 at Walton school, located at 2960 Walton Ave. Cost is $10 per person for those who pre-register or $15 at the door. For more information, email waltonpac@shaw.ca.
